Coast & Tides – New Gameplay Features

A fresh approach to Rail Nation

Coast & Tides introduces new gameplay mechanics while taking you to a brand-new island map inspired by Germany’s North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts. Whether you’re planning with your association or developing your hometown, every decision matters throughout the entire round.

Industry Shares replace majorities

Say goodbye to fighting over industry majorities.

Coast & Tides introduces Industry Shares, a new system that replaces the traditional majority mechanic. Instead of competing for exclusive control, multiple associations can now acquire
Industry Shares for the same factory level, allowing all of them to benefit from that industry.

Industry Shares apply to individual factory levels. Associations can unlock shares for the current factory level and also purchase shares for future factory levels in advance.
Personal investments continue to provide waiting time bonuses and prestige, while Industry Shares create a fairer and more cooperative way for associations to gain additional benefits.

A new ending, new strategies

For the first time, Coast & Tides removes the traditional Endgame.

Instead, the round ends after Era 6, with the highest-level city claiming victory. Every decision throughout the game contributes directly to the final result. Competitions, city projects, and other core mechanics remain active until the end of the round, allowing cities and associations to keep competing until the very end.

Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or trying the event for the first time, you’ll need to adapt your strategy and think ahead from the very first era.

Explore the northern islands

Coast & Tides takes you to a brand-new map inspired by the islands of Germany’s North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts.

Four island regions are connected by a unique railway network, encouraging new routes and fresh strategic decisions. Along the way, you’ll transport twelve new themed goods and experience an atmosphere inspired by life on the northern coast.

Additional changes

  • Hometown changes are disabled during Era 6.
